Best Time To Visit Mahabaleshwar

Mahabaleshwar is one of the wettest hill stations in India (over 6000 mm of annual rain) so timing your visit matters.

October to June ⭐ Best Season

Temperature: 10°C – 30°C depending on month

Mahabaleshwar is technically closed during peak monsoon (around mid-June to mid-October the town sees extremely heavy rain and many establishments shut). The best time is outside this window.

November to February ⭐ Peak Tourist Season

Temperature: 10°C – 24°C
Strawberries: Available from November

The most popular time. Cool, clear weather, full reservoirs, flowing waterfalls (from stored monsoon rain), and fresh strawberries. The famous Wilson Point sunrise is best appreciated in this season when visibility is at its clearest.

Best for: Families, couples, viewpoints, strawberry picking, horse riding
Tip: Book 3–4 weeks ahead for December–January — it's the busiest period

March to May

Temperature: 18°C – 32°C
Strawberries: Still available through April

Mahabaleshwar warms up but remains cooler than the plains. Strawberry season is in full swing through April. The Konkan coast is visible from the viewpoints on clear days. A good time for those wanting to avoid the winter rush.

Monsoon: Mid-June to Mid-October

Rainfall: Extremely heavy (Mahabaleshwar averages 500–600 cm of rain in this period)

The hill station is officially "closed season" — many hotels, restaurants and viewpoints shut. Roads are dangerous. Not recommended for a first visit. However, experienced travellers who visit mid-September or early October (as rain begins to ease) are rewarded with full waterfalls, empty roads and the greenest landscapes in Maharashtra.
