How To Reach Velhe

Velhe is 60 km from Pune. A private vehicle — car or bike — is essential. There is no functional public transport to Velhe tehsil.

From Pune (60 km — 1.5 to 2 hours)

Via NH48 (Pune–Bangalore Highway): Take NH48 toward Satara. After Nasrapur (30 km from Pune), turn right on the state road toward Velhe tehsil headquarters. Follow signs to Velhe. This is the faster route.

Via Sinhagad Road: Take Sinhagad Road out of Pune, drive through Donje and Nasrapur to reach Velhe — a more scenic route through the Sahyadri foothills.

By Bike: The Sinhagad Road route is a popular bike ride — well-surfaced with good scenery. Distance: 60 km, time: approximately 1.5 hours.

Directions to Key Spots

Torna Fort (base: Velhe village): Velhe village is the trailhead — the trek starts from the village centre. Park near the village square.

Rajgad Fort (base: Pali village): From Velhe tehsil, continue 15 km west toward Pali. The road is narrow and unpaved in sections — an SUV or high-clearance vehicle is recommended.

Madhe Ghat Waterfall: Take the road from Velhe toward Bhor. Madhe Ghat is on the Nasrapur–Bhor ghat road — search "Madhe Ghat Waterfall" on Google Maps for the exact pull-off point.

Important Notes

  • Roads after Nasrapur are narrow, single-lane in parts — drive carefully, especially after dark and during monsoon
  • Mobile network is weak or absent across most of Velhe tehsil — download offline Google Maps before leaving Pune
  • Petrol stations are available in Nasrapur — fill up before entering Velhe

Book a Velhe villa — your host will send GPS coordinates and route notes on confirmation.
