Best Time To Visit Mulshi
Mulshi is spectacular in every season but each offers a distinctly different experience. Here's how to choose the right time for your trip.
Monsoon: June to September ⭐ Most Scenic
Temperature: 18°C – 28°C
Rainfall: Heavy, especially July–August
Mulshi is arguably at its most beautiful in the monsoon. The lake fills to its brim, the hills turn an electric shade of green and the Tamhini Ghat road transforms into one of the most dramatic drives in the Sahyadris. Waterfalls appear from every cleft in the rock.
Best for: Scenic drives, photography, lake views, birdwatching, couples and families who don't mind rain
Avoid if: You want outdoor trekking — trails can be slippery and leech-prone during heavy rain
Tip: Visit on a Wednesday or Thursday — weekends in July and August are extremely crowded on the Tamhini Ghat road
Post-Monsoon: October to November ⭐ Best Overall
Temperature: 18°C – 30°C
Rainfall: Minimal
The landscape is still lush and green, waterfalls are still flowing from the monsoon rain, and the roads are dry and safe. The lake is full, the air is clean and trails are perfect for trekking. This is the best all-round time to visit.
Best for: Trekking (Tung Fort, Andharban), lake activities, photography, families
Tip: Book villas 2–3 weeks in advance as October fills up quickly
Winter: December to February
Temperature: 12°C – 24°C
Rainfall: None
Cool, clear and quiet. The lake level drops a little but the landscape remains pleasant. Cold nights make for excellent bonfire evenings. Mulshi sees relatively fewer tourists in winter compared to Lonavala — good for those seeking a peaceful stay.
Best for: Peaceful getaways, bonfires, early morning mist photography, birdwatching
Note: The lake level is lower and waterfalls are dry but the serenity compensates
Summer: March to May
Temperature: 24°C – 36°C
Rainfall: None
Mulshi is noticeably hotter in summer. The lake level drops significantly and the hills turn brown. However, prices are low and the area is quiet.
Best for: Budget travel, last-minute trips, water sports (lake level permitting)
Avoid: Tamhini Ghat drive in the harsh afternoon sun — go early morning if visiting in summer
